VLS CONTEST SERIES

Introducing the VLS Contest Series, a “season” of two-month long contests for participants to test their PGATOUR2K21 design skills in six separate events that include mini golf, par 3, adventure, backyard, universal plot, and championship fantasy course designs, with the top 3 finishers in each contest winning sponsored prizes.

Details:

  • Each contest is open to the first 25 registrants that reply directly to the sign-up posts on Twitter or my Discord server (time stamp gives the order), and every event will be announced separately on socials to have mutually exclusive registration.
  • Participants may begin their project after receiving confirmation that they are in, and the design window deadline is indicated by the contest dates posted on my website.
  • Contestants may design on any platform they wish, but only the first published product will be eligible for judging, therefore no works in progress (WIPs) prior to registration or contest betas will be allowed.
  • Every event will be judged by an experienced panel of trusted players & designers from the PGATOUR2k21 community.

Each one of the 25 registrants that finish their project by the deadline will receive:

  • a chance to be selected to host a DAM society event
  • 4 high-res digital promotional glamour shots of their course
  • a Twitter marketing post dedicated to their publish
  • a recorded playthrough featured on my YouTube channel
  • a feature spot in the VLS Contest Series on my website

mini-golf MADNESS ( Sept 1 – Oct 31)

Contest entry is open to the first 25 registrants to reply to the post on Twitter!

Details: (What do I need to do?)

  • Design an 18 hole mini-golf course in PGATOUR2K21.
  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed.
  • No previous courses or current WIPs allowed.
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations.
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with theme, environment, and obstacles. Let’s have some fun!

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must tee off with a putter and all shots must be playable with a putter unless off-course.
  • Pars 2 thru 5 acceptable. No total par requirements.
  • Golf ball physics will be judged so designers should test all obstacles and boundary walls for playability.

  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed.
  • No previous courses or current WIPs allowed.
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations.
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with theme, environment, and objects. Let’s have some fun!

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must be a par 3 with a yardage between 90-260 yards
  • A realistic routing is expected, changing directions throughout the round, and all tees realistically reached by golfers
  • Only 1 tee set and pin location per hole is required, but at least 2 pin sets per green is encouraged for potential society use

  • Design an 18 hole fantasy course between par 69-73 in PGATOUR2K21
  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed.
  • No previous courses or current WIPs allowed.
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations.
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with theme, environment, and objects. Let’s have some fun!

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must be a par 3, 4, or 5 with a yardage between 90-675 yards
  • A realistic routing is encouraged, with holes changing directions throughout the round, but all tees do not have to be realistically reached by golfers
  • Only 1 tee set and pin location per hole is required, but at least 2 pin sets per green is encouraged for potential society use

  • Design an 18 hole course in PGATOUR2K21 within a 500yd X 500yd area
  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed
  • No previous courses or WIPs allowed
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with theme, environment, and objects… HAVE FUN!

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must be a par 3, 4, or 5 with a yardage between 75-650 yards
  • A realistic routing is expected, changing directions throughout the round, and all tees realistically reached by golfers
  • All playable surfaces must be within the allotted 500yd X 500yd area
  • Designers may enhance the outside of the course design area however they wish
  • Being creative with the plot as a whole so that the area the course is built on “makes sense” is recommended
  • Only 1 tee set and pin location per hole is required for judging, but at least 2 pin sets per green is encouraged for potential DAM Society use

Adventure Addict (May 1 – May 31)

Details: (What do I need to do?)

  • Design an 18 hole adventure course in PGATOUR2K21 – an adventure course for VLS is designed as a course where the 18 tees and greens do not correspond to their normal pairings (i.e. the first tee may proceed to the fifth green, etc.)
  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed
  • Previously published courses or current WIPs are allowed (and recommended)
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with the routing of the course… let the golfer HAVE FUN!

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must be a par 3, 4, 5, or 6 with a yardage between 75-850 yards
  • A realistic routing is not expected, but using previously built tees and green the golfers should find the course to be playable in most reasonable conditions
  • Only 1 tee set and pin location per hole is required for judging, but at least 2 pin sets per green is encouraged for potential DAM Society use

Details: (What do I need to do?)

  • Design an 18 hole championship golf course in PGATOUR2K21 using the course file provided by VctryLnSprts as the starting plot
  • Designer may begin after registration is confirmed and file is received
  • Current WIPs are not allowed (nor would they do any good in this contest anyway)
  • Contestants will be provided with a judging rubric with full details concerning course evaluations
  • Designers are encouraged to be creative with the routing of the course using the plot provided to show a unique design vision that separates you from the other contestants

Rules: (Boooo!)

  • Each hole must be a par 3, 4, or 5 with a yardage reasonable and logical for championship design
  • NO macro land movement is allowed, the overall “topography” of the plot must remain the same (no removal of water, hills, mountains, etc.)
  • Micro sculpting of the tees, fairways, greens (playable surfaces) IS allowed within reason to make your design work (I realize you will flatten tees, put camber in fairways, contour greens, sculpt bunkers, etc.)
  • All themes and planting styles are allowed as long as the topography of the plot does not change (be creative, have fun, just don’t be pedantic with the rules, this is meant to be a challenge)
  • A realistic routing is expected, including how a golfer would get around the property during a round from one hole to the next
  • Tournament objects and crowds are not required; the idea of it being a championship course is only to reference that this isn’t a kin to a fantasy, adventure, or backyard course, it is meant as a full length, regular golf course
  • Only 1 tee set and pin location per hole is required for judging, but at least 4 pin sets per green is encouraged for potential TGCTours or other society use if you intend to submit
